Beware of Ghost Preparers

Did you know your tax preparer also signs your tax return?

We're required to by law.

"Ghost preparers" don't sign, though. 😱 They don't want the IRS to know who they are.

A "ghost preparer" is what the IRS calls someone who receives $$ for preparing tax returns without disclosing identifying information on the tax returns they prepare.

This could indicate TAX FRAUD.

Why would someone do this? What are they hoping to gain by flying under the IRS radar? 🦇

They could be:

☠️ Sending taxpayer refunds to THEIR OWN bank accounts.

☠️ Not claiming the fees they charge as income on THEIR OWN tax returns.

☠️ Claiming false deductions and credits on tax returns they prepare.

Look at any federal tax return prepared for you by someone else you paid. You should see a fully & accurately completed Paid Preparer section.

If not, consider double checking with your tax pro & contacting the IRS.
